The Government of Jordan decided to enter into the peaceful nuclear age by building institutions and adopting a strategic programme. Institutions’ building includes the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, the Jordan Energy Resources Inc. (JERI), The Jordan French Uranium Company, the Nuclear Engineering Department at the University of Science and Technology, and the Nuclear Research Reactor Center. The nuclear programme includes building a 1000 MW nuclear power plant for electricity generation during the period 2013-2019 .This will be followed by building three more power plants, Jeri’s main function today is carrying out prospecting activities with the objectives of discovering additional uranium ores in Jordan.
